Goorsha was founded with the intention of bringing people together through the unique culture and bold flavors of Ethiopia. Goorsha is the Ethiopian ceremony of feeding one another with one’s hands to express honor and friendship. This simple act–of touching both the food, and the one being served—can transform an ordinary moment into a sacred one. Inspired by this custom, Goorsha was mindfully designed to offer a new way of eating and engaging with others.
Located in Durham’s historic Brightleaf Square, Goorsha is the city’s #1 Ethiopian restaurant. The space has been renovated as a tribute to Ethiopian cuisine and way of life, and is inspired by the diversity found in the country’s art, food culture and people. Guests can enjoy communal or private dining, or sit outside at the outdoor bar and patio and enjoy a signature cocktail.
